Your Trusted Specialty Chemicals Supplier for Industrial Applications

Our Specialty Chemical Solutions

At HeiQ ChemTex, we’ve been a specialty chemicals supplier since 1974, serving industries that rely on performance-driven formulations. Our story began as Chem-Tex Chemical Corporation, focusing initially on textile chemical manufacturing and has grown to encompass multiple industrial sectors including carpets, textiles, paper processing, petroleum extraction and coated fabrics. What sets us apart isn’t just what we make, but how we make it: with a focus on practical solutions that solve real-world production challenges without compromising on quality or performance.

We operate two manufacturing facilities in the southeastern United States (in Concord, North Carolina and Calhoun, Georgia) that are strategically positioned to serve the heart of America’s textile and manufacturing industries. Our facilities boast reactor vessels ranging from 150 to 6,600 gallons, multiple mixing vessels up to 6,000 gallons and over 300,000 combined gallons of secured storage capacity. This infrastructure allows us to handle projects from small-batch pilot runs to full-scale production, giving our clients the flexibility to scale their operations without changing suppliers.

Surfactant Solutions

Our surfactant production forms the core of our business, with extensive expertise in creating compounds that improve cleaning, foaming and fabric treatment processes. We manufacture a comprehensive range of surfactant chemistries, each designed to address specific challenges in industrial applications.

These popular cleaning agents are created by reacting fatty alcohols with ethylene oxide, resulting in compounds that offer excellent wetting and emulsifying properties. We adjust the degree of ethoxylation to match specific applications, from low-foaming industrial cleaners to high-performance textile treatments.

Our amine oxide surfactants, such as CHEMTEX A-74 (Lauryl Dimethylamine Oxide), improve foam stability and viscosity in formulations . These compounds work particularly well in textile foam finishing applications, where they contribute to excellent foamability properties.

Versatile compounds like our CHEMTEX OLB-30 (Oleyl Betain) adjust their charge based on pH, making them ideal for sensitive applications including personal care textiles and acrylic compounding. These surfactants offer excellent compatibility with other surfactant types and stabilize formulations in extreme pH conditions.

We produce specialized surfactants for specific challenges, including low-foaming systems, high-electrolyte environments and high-temperature applications. Our product line includes cationic surfactants for fabric softening and antistatic properties, as well as NP9 surfactants for heavy soil removal in industrial cleaning.

Polymer Additives & Functional Materials

Beyond surfactants, we develop polymer additives that impart specific characteristics to materials, making them more durable, stable and functional. These additives serve as silent partners in your products, working behind the scenes to ensure consistent performance and processing characteristics.

Zinc Ammonium Carbonate

This versatile additive serves as a stabilizer and cross-linking agent in various polymer applications, particularly those requiring resilience to heat, light or other environmental stressors. It helps maintain stability in synthetic and natural latex compounds, which is essential for applications like carpet backing, adhesives and coated fabrics.

Oilfield Foamers

Our specialized oilfield foamers, including products like Chemtex Foamer CD, address the challenge of recovering crude oil from low-pressure or depleted wells. These potent surfactants generate a dense, stable foam upon contact with residual gases or introduced air, creating the lift necessary to push oil and water to the surface.

Specialty Sulfation Services

We offer custom sulfation services where we sulfate organic alcohols to create bespoke surfactants and intermediates that meet highly specific customer requirements. This process modifies the molecular structure of an alcohol, making it more hydrophilic and creating excellent foaming, wetting and emulsifying capabilities.

Phosphate Esters & Derivatives

Our phosphate esters serve as important ingredients in products ranging from fabrics to metalworking fluids, where they help mix liquids, reduce friction and maintain stability under different conditions.

Alkyl Phosphate Esters

These workhorse compounds excel as emulsifiers in metalworking fluids, anti-static agents in synthetic fibers and lubricity additives in hydraulic fluids. Products like CHEMTEX A-41 (Sodium 2-Ethyl Hexyl Phosphate) offer moderate foaming with good detergency and electrolyte stability, making them excellent coupling agents in solvent-based emulsions.

Phosphoric Acid Esters

These derivatives offer improved thermal and chemical resistance compared to standard phosphate esters, making them valuable for metal treatment applications where they form protective layers that prevent rust. They’re also used in flame retardant textiles and adhesive formulations.

Specialty Phosphate Esters

We develop specialized phosphate esters for specific applications where standard surfactants don’t perform well, including low-foaming systems, high-electrolyte environments and high-temperature applications. These specialty versions often incorporate unique alkyl chain lengths or additional functional groups to achieve desired performance characteristics.

Dispersing & Rheology Agents

The behavior of your formulations depends heavily on dispersion and rheology: how particles stay suspended and how materials flow during application. Our products in this category help achieve perfect consistency and ensure smooth application in manufacturing processes.

Dispersing Agents

These chemical workhorses prevent solid particles from settling out of solutions, ensuring products stay uniform from the first drum to the last. They work by coating individual solid particles, reducing the natural attraction they have for each other, which allows them to remain evenly distributed throughout the liquid medium.

Rheology Modifiers

These additives influence the viscosity and flow characteristics of formulations, allowing you to design the exact consistency you need whether a free-flowing liquid, a creamy paste or a gel that stays put. They prevent products from running off vertical surfaces or becoming too thick to pump or spread evenly.

Thickeners

As a specific class of rheology modifier, our thickeners do more than just increase viscosity. They provide suspension power to keep solids in place, impart anti-sag properties for vertical applications, create desirable tactile characteristics in finished products and improve water retention in aqueous systems.

Sodium Polyacrylates

This unique polymer functions as both a thickener and dispersant depending on its molecular weight, with high molecular weight derivatives yielding an incredible ability to absorb and retain large  volumes of water. It rapidly transforms liquids into gels, making it valuable in textile printing, water retention applications and dispersion of inorganic particles.

Contract Manufacturing

For companies with their own formulations, we offer comprehensive contract manufacturing services that provide the capabilities and partnership to turn concepts into finished products. Our approach combines technical expertise with flexible production capabilities.

Manufacturing Capabilities

Our two facilities offer reactor vessels from 150 gallons to 6,600 gallons, allowing us to handle everything from small-batch pilot runs to full-scale production. We maintain multiple mixing vessels up to 6,000 gallons, Eppenbach mixers and over 300,000 combined gallons of fully contained storage for raw materials and finished products.

Specialized Focus Areas

Our team possesses deep formulation and production knowledge across several key chemical domains, including surfactant systems, polymer and foaming agents, adhesives and coatings and specialty chemical synthesis. This expertise allows us to understand your challenges and anticipate production needs from the very first conversation.

Partnership Approach

We build collaborative relationships with our clients, engaging to understand your product’s end-use rather than simply executing a recipe. Our technical team can provide insights into formulation adjustments for better stability, efficiency or performance based on the specific application requirements.

Industries and Applications

Our chemical solutions serve diverse industrial sectors, each with unique requirements and challenges.
